Baby Orin

Last night I met my cousin Lynnette's new baby, Orin Saylor. He is absolutely adorable and I'm not just saying that because we're related. He really is! I got him to smile and he even had a tiny little giggle, which I'm sure is only going to get bigger.

After changing him, she put him in his crib and said, "wanna see the best thing $7 can buy?" And no kidding, he was in an instant trance with his little fish mobile, cracking a smile every so often. It's amazing what babies are entertained by.

Lynnette went the au natural route for his birth. You can read the birth story, but only if you can handle description.

Cousin, I'm so happy for you and Paul! Orin is such a great addition to the family.

(Note: I stole the pics below from FB, but the little man likes to yawn. Isn't it cute?)

Sounders 'Til I Die (or maybe not, I'm not bleeding green quite yet)

It was a sea of green and blue at Qwest Field this Saturday! In all my experiences at sporting events – Mariners, Sonics, Seahawks, Huskies, even good ol’ BEHS – I’ve never seen so much team spirit! I felt like the only person in the stadium that didn’t have Sounders gear and I almost felt pressured to buy a t-shirt (but then my cousin informed me that they are like $5 at QFC with a $20 purchase – score!).

Anyway, it was super fun and our seats were awesome! Right by the entrance of where the players come in and leave, so I got to see them all up close and personal. So naturally, I have to decide which player I should be dating. While originally I was thinking Nate Jaqua because he scored the only goal and is quite a looker, I have changed my decision to Kevin Forrest because not only is he attractive, he also is from the great state of Washington, is about my age and played for UW. (Or you can decide on an option for me here.) Man, how creepy would it be if he saw this post? Kevin, if you’re reading this, please know that I am perfectly sane, have a job, would support your soccer career and am really fun. My number is: 555-1234. Talk to you soon.

Here’s one of the super creative chants from the game:
I'm Sounders 'til I die
I'm Sounders 'til I die
I know I am, I'm sure I am
I'm Sounders 'til I die

And here’s Lynnette and me, as well as a view of the game from our seats.

A cousinly bond

Last night I went to BluWater Bistro in Greenlake for dinner with my cousin, Lynnette and her husband, Paul. So my cousin and I are the same age (only a couple months apart) and have both been living in Seattle for the last 2+ years. She grew up in Seattle, but went to GA for college while I was at UW – so our overlap in the city has been minimal. With that said, we have been in the same city of 2+ years and still don’t see each other often. I think that will change because we found that we have a lot in common! We both like:

Drinking red wine with good company (after dinner we relocated to her apartment for some more wine)
Caprese sandwiches (ordered the same thing, ok, not so novel, but still...)
Watching Biggest Loser and ANTM
Cooking and trying new recipes
Going to sporting events (they have Sounders season tix)
Running around Greenlake
Beanie babies

Ok, so that last thing was a lie, but I felt like this post was getting boring and I wanted to spice it up. You know what else spices boring things up?! Google image searches. Like when I type in “Fun” to Google images, I get this awesome picture. Everyone loves a slinky.

Hmm, I feel like this has inspired a future post.
