Bite-Sized Food, Super-Sized Fun

Despite our best intentions, it was hard to get another cooking club night on the books. But finally, finally, we picked a day, a place and a theme. Liz hosted us all last Sunday night (and kicked Barry out for the night!) and since they live in a smaller condo, she chose "Mini foods" as the theme. Brilliant!

One might think that we'd opt for simple recipes like corn dogs or ants on a log. (But I guess we're not 5 years old either?) But no, we got all fancy. On the miniature menu:
  • Fried chicken and waffles
  • Individual chicken pot pies (that's the roll-looking thing with cheesy goodness on top!)
  • Brie and fig wrapped in some sort of croissant dough
  • Mini wedge salads (that's what I brought; I figured a veggie option might be refreshing)
  • Sweet potato goodness wrapped in some sort of amazing dough
  • Two types of stuffed mushrooms
  • Apple tarts (dessert seen below)
We clearly ate ourselves silly because in no time, we decided that it was absolutely critical to learn the latest line dance craze: The Wobble. It's like the Wobble said to the Macarena, "I'll see your catchy, rhythmic hand motion and raise you a body roll." Get ready to see Wobbling at a bar near you, friends. It's good.

P.S. Contrary to back-to-back dance-related posts, I actually don't crazy dance every single day. Usually only like 4 days a week :)
P.P.S. Next theme: Family recipes! Mom, Dad, what should I make?!

A Birthday Jig

It all started with Autumn and I rocking out to the beats on New Year's Eve. (Please excuse both of our awesome faces.)

Joe soon joined and as you can see, I got excited.

We danced. Not well, I will admit. Just silly dancing. But maybe you could already tell?

One thing led to another and soon enough I bumped my head on his knee. (Or least I think it was his knee?)

We laughed.

He gave me a "aww, it's ok" hug.

Then I can't remember what he said to me, but I remember it being really, really funny.

What I'm trying to get to in the most roundabout way is that I love dancing with this man through life. We always come out of any situation smiling and laughing together. And I can't wait to dance away another year. Happy Birthday, Joe!

P.S. Thank to Stephers again for capturing our crazy dancing skills!

Toasts and Singing for the Bride-to-Be

In a nutshell, the bachelorette party was filled with a spa visit, photo booth, lingerie cookies, "We Love Lizzie" signs, an amazing Italian dinner, the best dance moves you've ever set eyes on, singing at the top of our lungs, hugs, dancing in the streets, late night hotel treats, late morning brunch, beautiful ladies and most importantly, a glowing bride-to-be!

Yep, we know how to have a good time. I'll let the pictures do the rest of the talking!

The Step-Touch

There is a whole lot of bad awesome dancing going on here. A big thanks goes out to Joe for catching these moves on video. I call them the step-touch, knee bounce, shakey knees and to the right, there is a guy who likes to shake his tail feather. Wedding dancing at its finest. (I promise it got better with time. Everyone has to warm up, right?)

Jenny is 21

This is Jenny. Let me tell you a little about Jenny. She is 21, likes to go out dancing and celebrate with the ladies. When she tells others that it's her 21st birthday, people left and right want to buy her a drink. It's a pretty good deal actually.

But let me really tell you about Jenny. Jenny is Maddie. Maddie discovered the perks of pretending to turn 21 two years ago and so a tradition began. (For the record, Kimbie made the "announcement" that is was her 21st!) Every spring, we go out to celebrate Jenny's 21st birthday. While technically Jenny should be 23 now, and in reality she's pushing 28, we are going to live it up for as long as we can.

So to let the tradition live on, we made the trek to Belltown for some dancing last Saturday. We love us some dancing.

The crew.

Dancing begins. Oh wait, is Straube starting to robot dance?

Oh yes she is! And now she's crazy robot dancing and I apparently love it. I actually really do.

Throw your hands up in the AIR!

One thing about Belltown is that there are a lot of sketchy fellas out there. Some just stand on the perimeters of the dance floor and watch. Like these dudes.

That's why when you find these dudes that are FAR more interested in dancing with each other, you got a good thing going on. Guys that 1) like to dance 2) know and scream sing all of the lyrics to the latest Britney song, actually better than you.

Oh Belltown, if only you weren't so exhausting. Can't wait to hang out on Jenny's 24th, errr, next 21st birthday!

Gettin' our dance on

On Saturday, we got our dance on at the Frontier Room in Belltown. I don't think I've gone out dancing since our trip to Vegas last March, so I was due for a little boogie.

Belltown sure knows how to attract some creepers. They all stand around the dance floor and quietly observe all the ladies dancing. Stephanie actually got the courage to ask one that was precariously perched right next to us, "do you enjoy just watching everyone?" He said, "yes." Creep factor: 8. Creep factor 10 was reached when one guy was wearing gloves because he said that people were "germy."

Nonetheless, it was a really fun girl's night out!

Steph must have been telling a great story here. I wish I remembered what we were talking about. Maybe about the guy wearing gloves?

As you can see, a lot of creepers.

The ladies of the night.

Kimber's new bangin' bangs. And Autumn's amazing red lipstick.

This guy was our favorite creeper of the night. He didn't leave our side. We were trying to be sneaky by taking this pic, but I'm sure he knew exactly what we were doing. Oops.
