Golfing in the rain

Well, not quite in the rain, but the course was a GIANT puddle and the rain returned right after we got into the car. Good thing I wore my rainboots!

The Greenlake Pitch n' Putt is such a fun, easy, cheap activity. Unfortunately it closes for the year at the end of this month. I wish I had made it out there more than once this year, but I guess there's always next year.

I guess now I should be looking forward to pumpkin patches and Husky football games!

Owls

Halloween notecard on Etsy

Owls have gained A LOT of popularity in the last few years. I've particularly noticed since the owl is one of the symbols of my sorority. I remember a time when the only owl you can find was at Goodwill or an old lady's garage sale and believe me, it was a major score if you did. Now they're everywhere. They are pretty cute little creatures if you ask me.

Thank you for being so good to me. You brought me this character, you completed your first marathon (top 5 in proudest moments), you danced the night away a few times, you explored new places in your city that you're ashamed you've never been before and you've experimented with so many new recipes! 26 definitely set the bar high, but I have faith that you'll deliver. Already on day 2, I'm feeling good. I am completely in awe for all the birthday wishes from everyone. Man, I have phenomenal friends and family. So may you bring me plenty of ladies nights (especially more dancing), fun dates and good family time.

P.S. I think 27 feels especially good because I was spoiled with BOTH Trophy cupcakes and Molly Moon's ice cream yesterday. So I leave you with some pics from the ice cream shop.

Joe got strawberry and chocolate and as you can see it made him very happy.

I got salted caramel and "scout" mint, which I later dreamt about. Aren't self-timers so nice? Especially when 70% of the shot is a lovely counter :) But look at all that ice cream behind us! I wanted to smuggle it home.

This is Space Command to Zoom

Every year on my birthday, Captain Zoom makes an appearance in some way, shape or form - thanks to my lovely Mom. Sometimes over the phone, sometimes in person, one time it was even sent Zoom to Andy at work to have him sneakily play it in my office. I'm curious how he'll make his appearance today for the BIG 2-7!

Through a little research, I've learned that Captain Zoom visited many children of the late 70s and early 80s on their birthday. He's been visiting me almost my ENTIRE life. And I love him. He's the best. To my surprise, I found out the Zoom visited Joe when he was little too! Can you believe that?!

She looked like a magazine bride

How do I keep lucking out with all of these fantastic weddings?! Saturday's was yet another one to add to the list. A few highlights that made it a blast:

• They had a bagpiper who played during the processional AND led us the few blocks to the reception location. So fun!
• Meredith looked like she was taken straight out of a bridal magazine - she was striking. Her dress was so chic and modern, her makeup was the perfect balance between natural and dramatic, her hair was sleek and she had a very radiant, I-just-got-married-to-the-man-of-my-dreams glow.
• They served gnocchi and for anyone who knows me, I love me some gnocchi.
• Molly Moon's ice cream and sticky toffee pudding cake. My first, and definitely not last, experience with the famous salted caramel ice cream. Delish.
• The party was hoppin' and even continued on for the after party at Barca.

I wish I had taken more and better pictures, but I was apparently too into dancing and celebrating!

My handsome wedding date who has stuck by my side through 4 weddings this summer. One more in November!

The Scottish theme and decorations were so elegant. When the tables were set when we arrived, the glassware was sparkling out of control. Gorgeous.

The favors? Mini bottles of Scotch! How fun, right?

It's always nice to have something to look forward to after a long week. For me, it's going to be Meredith and Angus' wedding. Knowing Meredith and her classic aesthetic, I can only imagine it will be a gorgeous and fun party.

A couple of ironic details: The reception will be at Pravda Studios in Capital Hill, which was the same place as Carol's earlier this summer AND they went to high school together! It took me some time to make the connection, but what are the odds?

Another piece of irony: At Jaison's birthday party a couple months ago, I was chattin' with someone and somehow we discovered that we were both at Meredith's bridal shower and would be at the wedding too! (She knew Angus, the future hubby.)

Small world, huh?
