The adult creamsicle

Need an idea for a light, refreshing cocktail? Look no further. I present a twist on the classic (well, maybe it's not a classic, but just something Earl's served in college?) The Adult Orange Creamsicle. One part whiskey, 2-3 parts Vanilla Bean Dry Soda and fresh squeezed juice from a half of an orange. It's not too sweet, not too sour and has a bit of a kick. It gives the spicy grapefruit margarita a run for it's money. But I guess if I had to choose, the grapefruit might still win. I suppose I should do a side-by-side test to settle the score, huh? (Gosh, I just got a headache thinking about mixing the two in one night!)

Cocktails, Incredibooth and the 90's

You know, just a few girls staying entertained by the Incredibooth app while out for cocktails this past weekend. Again and again, it never gets old.

We may or may not have been rockin' out to the most random collection of 90's music ever. In fact, despite the yawns, we stayed in our seats to "wait for just one more song..." But for like 10 more songs. Seriously, when was the last time you heard Salt n' Pepa?!

The "Move Home" Campaign

In honor of Karen and Kimber's visit to Seattle and recent birthdays, we all decided to meet up for drinks at The Sexton in Ballard. (This is the place that got me hooked on spicy cocktails!) I utilized the opportunity to continue on my campaign to get them both to move back to Seattle. Kimber was saying how she missed the Ballard hipsters, so I think I've made progress! Slowly, but surely, ladies. It's gotta happen.

After The Sexton, we mosied on over to the Shelter for the quasi-outdoor seating - open air, but covered! Perfect for Seattle. I love me some quality girl time (plus Daniel!) and it made me even more excited to boogie the night away on Saturday for Lizzie's wedding!

Ice Cream and Cocktails

For Memorial Day weekend, we decided to plan a much-needed, fun, relaxing date night (Who doesn't love a good date night?). It had been awhile since we had an "official" date night, and since I had a gift card to Ray's Boathouse that was expiring in a few short days, it was the perfect opportunity.

Our night involved a homemade meal, Menchie's frozen yogurt and a delicious cocktail. The key to our strategy? Make it to Ray's just before sunset, so we can soak up the gorgeous view. And might I say, it was stunning. The ominous cloud suddenly turned bright pink and orange and everyone and their brother was out on the deck taking a picture. Date night success!

Farewell, Sambar.

With Sambar right down the street from my place, it's no surprise that I've stopped in on occasion. (Actually, for two Valentine's Days in a row!)  It's a cute, tiny establishment with crazy rotating cocktail concoctions - in fact, I usually only know about half of the ingredients! Turns out, they will be closing in June, so Maddie, Steph and I decided that we should get a final visit in. We ordered some sort of sweet and spicy cocktail - I'd give it a 6 or 7 on a spicy scale of 1-10. And if you know me, you know I like spicy things, so it definitely hit the spot!

But the side of frites didn't help our hunger pains, so after cocktails we walked down the street for Chinese. (True story: I have never been to a Chinese restaurant in Seattle! Crazy, huh?) While the people were downright hilarious, the food... well, it looks far better in the picture than it tasted. I think we might have been better off picking up some Chinese at Safeway. I don't know about Mads and Steph, but my stomach was definitely singing me a song (growling like crazy!) that evening. But a lesson learned, I suppose!

Overall, perfect evening to kick off the weekend!

Swanky swank

Last Saturday, I went to Christina and Andy's engagement party. Let me tell you - it was swanky! It was at Andy's uncle's condo on 2nd with a perfect view of this. Simply amazing! (We all offered to housesit when they have to leave town next.) We got to dress up in pretty dresses, drink fun cocktails and eat incredibly tasty hors d'oeuvres.

(I really think we should make cocktail parties happen more often, just don't let me bartend. We all know what happens when Petes bartends and it means there is never an empty glass which in turn means that people don't feel so hot the next day.)

Without any planning, there was a theme among the GMMBers. With the exception of Andy (co-worker, not her fiance), everyone wore some shade of red with black. As seen above, Kathryn and I were opposites... and we even arrived together, so people totally thought it was planned.

Some lovely ladies: Kathryn, Christina (bride), myself and Olita

Chattin' around the tasty treats.
(I tried to make this hairdo work,
but I think it needs some adjustments for next time.)
